WASHED BY THE WORD AND WHITER THAN SNOW
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10 (KJV) Please pray before reading.
In Mark Chapter 7 we find that the religious people in the day of Jesus were questioning why the disciples would eat with unclean hands. This interrogation proved to be fault-finding and full of condemnation upon their part, as they were caught up in religion and walking in the natural. Jesus perceived that in their hearts they were only trying to make Him and His disciples appear inferior, when stacked up to their religious doctrines. Therefore, Jesus did not try to sugar-coat His comment back to them at all. “But He said to them, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: ‘This people honors Me with their lips, But their heart is far away from Me.” Mark 7:6 (NASB) The religious people had issues far more important than unclean hands. They had spiritually life-threatening issues of unclean hearts.
Remnant, we should always be willing to let God’s Word cleanse us, so let’s be reminded of these scriptures for our spiritual cleansing. “Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you…“ Ezekiel 36:25-26 (NKJV)
“Thus says the Lord God: “On the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will also enable you to dwell in the cities, and the ruins shall be rebuilt.” Ezekiel 36:33 (NKJV) Yeah, you can go to church and call yourself a Christian but still live a very dirty life, being used by the enemy. Like the old saying, “Going to church doesn’t make you a believer, just like going to a barn doesn’t make you a cow.” It is the state of the heart. Is it clean or unclean according to God’s Word? The remnant knows that it is God’s Word and His Spirit that do the cleansing. “You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you” John 15:3 (NKJV) If there is anything unclean in our lives, we need to continue to be washed by the Word of God and allow any impurities to be cleansed from us continually. Yes, we are forgiven; however, if we ever get to the point in which we think we cannot get any cleaner through His Word, that will put a halt on our growth.
Father, in the name of Jesus, “Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean; Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow” Psalm 51:7 (NASB)
